Not a good idea. The rim is an inch too wide for a 160. It may not hold air and even if it does the profile will be horribly distorted.

What problem are you trying to solve?

I would like pirelli mt60 corsa as rear tire.
Has the front tire, and it works well.
Can not find a tire that I think would work just as well as pirelli mt60 corsa rear.
i want it to work good on tarmac as well as on gravel. The pirelli mt60 corsa does that.

I've got a similar problem, but I'm gong to try the Continental Trail Attack for my next trip, as it has a good reputation for grip on lose surfaces and is available in the right size.

Thing about the SMT is it's a road bike dressed up as an adventure bike. The 17"wheels are there for a reason.

last year on a 1 week off road ride I used an mt60r on the front and an old pilot road 2 that I put extra grooves in. that was a very good combo. the front never failed me and the rear just followed the front. we did 700kms off road all in dry conditions

I really wish they made the mt60r in a 180 rear!

this year I will buy a set of tkc80's for the same trip because there wont be more than 500kms of pavement to get to and from the offroad route.

if I attemt the 2700km offroad continental devide route from US border to US border this summer I will consider spooning on some cheap shinko 009 ravens and grooving them the night before the offroad ride starts and after riding the pavement for 2000kms to get to offroad route begining. something like this.....the shinkos are half the price of tkc80s and have a whopping 9mm of tread depth! I think that's why they wear so well.

...is hopefully the right answer.

Let me know how you get on with them. I'm guessing you may not wear them out in the next two months, but I'd be keen to hear how they cope on crap surfaces and how long they last.

I thought the Trail Attack 2 had been replaced by the 3 this year though...

I was on a "trailday" today. We drove both tarmac and gravel road. Most tarmac.
My conti trailattac 2 rear wheels and Pirelli mt60 corsa front wheel turned out to be a really excellent combination. fairly with grip on gravel and good grip on tarmac.
Got the tires roughened up properly. :-)
Have had a wonderful day on my SMT.
Tried BMW's entire range of motorcycles and some Hondas. Lets just say that my SMT is the best, it can handle EVERYTHING! :D
