Under what circumstances would you be spinning your mill under 4K, again? Ya got to pay attention to what your engine asks of you, it will punish you if you don't.

Lucky! Glad to hear your lady and you are OK. I ride the same roads and traffic patterns have changed during covid-19. There's a big surge in traffic in the past week and cagers are a bit more unpredictable. You've got to be on your game.

Ya got the citrus, the one-in-a-thousand. Yeah, I've had a couple of minor niggles but out of the eleven in the last few years and the five in the garage this is THE keeper. A '14 well massaged. Wouldn't trade it for the world.

It doesn't have to be that way: I had mine replaced and the new one has been golden.

I think Kev altered my assumptions/expectations about A/T long ago, the effects of engine brake while building a map using A/T, etc.

I've been using Amsoil 10-40 on both my SMT & SDr, combined 65,000 miles. Both bikes must think it's Motorex, they haven't complaint. After all these years and miles I spend more time enjoying the ride than worrying, some items deserve a bit of attention but nothing seems to implode when not done st...

Seems as if they're on a three year refresh cycle. But you cannot go wrong with any of them!

The motorags say last qtr of the year as a '19 model. Based on my experience buying my SMT & 1290r I would estimate early deliveries about a year from now.

I'm looking forward to the introduction in the U.S. later in the year, I'll provably end up buying one. It promises to be another category buster, this time in the middleweight division. I'm even considering parting with my beloved SMT to make room for this lightweight wonder.

Vibral, what floats your boat? A Brutale 800? A DR-Z400SM? A KTM 790r or maybe a Thruxton 1200 r? Or, go to the Dark Side for a 2018 'Fat Bob'? Man, the choices are endless!

I'd be curious to hear more about the reasons why a turbo 'Busa would tempt you to part with a 1290 SDr.

Just got back Tuesday: Hwy #26 (like glass!) to #88 to #89, Monitor Pass. Back on Ebbetts Pass, a rollercoaster ride past some gorgeous alpine lakes. Al in all 535 miles of fun in one day. #49 was closed at Coulterville due to Mariposa fire, looked like a nuclear mushroom from a distance! Heading ba...

U.S. certification caused delivery delays with the first gen 1290r also, normal stuff but no consolation to those of you with the fever. My wait was all worth it, I'm sure yours will be also! All that anticipation is fun but can get expensive as you plan all the improvements to make 'er yours!

Re: Warning: Verify clutch fluid replacement is appropriate!
I suspect Magura had something to do with it, based on stats and logistics. Personally I'd rather stay with the mineral oil, DOT 4 is nasty to painted surfaces and it attracts moisture, so it needs all the more attention. But, if I had to deal with manufacturing realities, I'd much rather have one u...

Same here, I've been riding on BTS's for ~2 years: They look as the day they went on. They've survived 'La Gloria Road' from Monterey East, and then later on that tour the grade into San Juan Bautista: If they can handle that they can survive anything!

Let me be clear, this suspension had been maintained by a pro shop all along. Neglect or abuse were not factors, that's what made the failure remarkable and worth posting.
