Re: 2017 SDR Mods (Beast 2.0) - What have you done?
I've always liked drag bars for their forward ride position, more weight on the front wheel and a sense of better, more direct, bike control. The LSL aluminum bar I just installed works well for my mountain 'twisties' riding style and the beast feels more beastly now although it took some fiddling ...

Re: Painting Rear Sub-frame
Fry: Got ya!
Spiff: Thanks. That link gives me some ideas. I was really asking about sub-frame removal/installation but I'll figure it out. My sub-frame might end up being the same gray as the tank which, I think, is 'Anthracite Gray' and also paint my white shock orange.

Painting Rear Sub-frame
I'm considering painting the white, rear sub-frame on my '17 SDR using KTM-color rattle cans. Does anyone have any words of wisdom about sub-frame removal and re-installation?
Thanks & Cheers!

Re: Celebrating the 'Beast'
I love NC 28 from DG Resort to Franklin and yes, Wayah has become rough...too bad. I only ride the Dragon early mornings, Monday through Friday. Very light traffic then.

Re: Celebrating the 'Beast'
Hey, that's 4 of us who can meet for some world class curve riding in the Dragon area when the weather is decent with just a little planning/coordination. Multiple SDR's pulling into the Deals Gap Resort might freak a few riders.

Celebrating the 'Beast'
Here is a compressed account of my 2017 Superduke R experience: I've owned about 40 motorcycles in my life (really) and ridden a couple hundred more (really). Yes, I'm older than dirt but I still ride hard and enjoy every second on my SDR. It is a special machine and, as an old drag-racer-turned-twi...

My Arrow mid-pipe AND muffler are both 'straight-through' with no cat disks inside. No restrictions. 100% free flow.

Re: Aftermarket exhaust pipes for the 1290
I am completely satisfied with my Arrow Titanium DeCat exhaust. According to my scale, the weight savings is 10.5 lbs. compared with the factory muffler and cat. The sound is plenty loud (it's all 'straight through' now) and, to my ears, sounds similar to a full Akra, without the Akra expense but a...

Re: 2017 SDR Mods (Beast 2.0) - What have you done?
I'm finally just about finished with mods (I think
) except for a LSL aluminum drag bar coming from Europe and maybe 2 new mirrors for the drag bar. I'm loving it too...it's the perfect bike for me.
Cheers!

Re: Loss of low end torque AR exhaust and removing exhaust valve.
For reference, my 2017 mods are in my signature and I can detect no power or torque loss at any RPM as modified. Indeed, it is VERY obvious to me that my throttle response is sharper and available torque must be higher throughout the powerband as roll-on acceleration from just above idle is now outr...

Thanks folks. I bought it very slightly used through this forum in perfect condition from 'BigBlock' above in Canada. He was great to do biz with--truthful, honest and quick to ship.

Re: 2017 SDR Mods (Beast 2.0) - What have you done?
My Arrow titanium muffler and stainless DeCat mid-pipe bolted up easily, fit perfectly and sound delicious. It is a 'straight-through' system now and still fairly loud but not harsh...deep, crisp. By my digital hand scale, the assembly is 10.5 pounds lighter than the factory cat and muffler. Life is...

A short-term memory lapse is a looooong way from stupidity. You're good.
