Re: 1290 Superduke r Grab Rail

Hi Dave. I might be interested, but I have the Powerparts saddlebags fitted. Will your grab rail work with the saddlebags (how they mount)? Thanks!

Re: 1290 Superduke r Grab Rail

Thanks! I have a 2017, so no panels. Would it fit my year too?

Re: 1290 Superduke r Grab Rail

Looks great Dave! It looks like it would be very handy for steadying the bike getting it on and off the rear stand, or just pushing it around in the garage. Any plans to make them available purchase?

Re: 2018 sdr are all the issue's sorted !!!

My ‘17 has the front rotor groan when pushing around in the garage. Dealer said is normal. The rear brake squeals sometimes coming to a stop. I had the Brembo front brake master cylinder and fuel pump recalls done. Other than that...fantastic machine! Oh, and it needs a new rear tire at about 4,700 ...

Front wheel alignment?

I had my 2017 SDR (in the USA) on the OEM rear stand. While lowering the bike, It fell over on the right side, because the forks were locked to the left. Boy, do I feel dumb! After that, the front wheel looked crooked in relation to the front fender and handlebars, but the bars seemed unbent. I’ve h...

Clutch Switch Cover?

I was washing my 2017 white/orange SDR (in the USA), and I noticed that the clutch switch looks naked, like it should have some kind of cover over it (like the front brake switch) to protect the contacts and the wires from dirt or water. Here’s a pic of what mine looks like. Would someone please loo...

Re: Thoughts on new tires

I was running the factory recommended pressures, 36 PSI front and 42 PSI rear. The rear was wearing normally. On my Yamaha FJR 1300 ES, I was also running the factory recommended pressures of 36 front and 42 rear on the stock Bridgestone Battlax BT023’s, and at 9,000 miles there was zero cupping of ...

Re: Thoughts on new tires

I had the factory fitted PR4’s on my BMW R1200RT and was shocked that the front was cupping at 4,000 miles, with plenty of tread left.

Re: Does anyone have MSR? How do you like it?

I’ve considered having the MSR activated, but have mixed feelings about it. On one hand it’s a safety net like ABS, but is it really needed if one just learns to have more finesse with the throttle (as with the brakes)? I’d like to know that once it’s activated can I turn it off if I desire? Sent fr...

As I like to say, you’re only as old as those you feel. So, if you want to feel younger...feel younger [emoji6]

Re: Thinking of Selling

I’m closing in on 60 and I’m feeling like the older I get, the more I’m moving to younger men’s bikes. From Goldwing to Yamaha FJR, now to the SDR. My motorcycle IS a time machine...it keeps me feeling young!

Re: Difficulty finding neutral

Yes, full synthetic might make the difference. I had them put that in at the 600 mike service. I agree, the gearbox may never be as quite as smooth as that of my former FJR, but that slight niggle is nothing compared to the joy riding the Duke brings!

Re: Difficulty finding neutral

I’ve noticed that after the 600 mile service it’s a bit easier to find neutral. You have to have a very light touch. In contrast, my Yamaha FJR was very easy to find neutral without overshooting into first or second year.

Re: Hold on 2017 SDR release?

I'm out. Tired of waiting and no info. I'm going to move my deposit to another bike, another brand. Maybe in a few years I'll consider KTM again. I hope you guys get your Beast 2.0 soon and love the hell out of them!

However, it sounds like you're fine. Just keep an eye the oil level and for any leaks.

Re: Mistakenly plugged the Crankcase vent...damage?

I'm not certain on he FJR, but typically oil seals like the one around shifter shaft, gaskets between the crankcase halves, etc. So would typically require engine removal and splitting the cases to replace. Not cheap.

Re: US/North America 2017 Super Duke R release/timing

My Yamaha FJR 1300 runs with both the DRL & the low beams in California, so here's hoping the Duke will do the same.

Re: US/North America 2017 Super Duke R release/timing

I'm also in the USA and I'd much prefer low beams on in daytime for more visibility to cagers.
