The immobilizer gremlin bit me!!

I'm back! Some of you may be surprised to see me back on here and even more surprised to hear I have kept hold of the most troublesome SMT on the planet. The immobilizer problem struck me back in August '14. Refused to start or even go through the pre-start motions. Because I have a DRZ 400 sm and a...

Popping and banging like Fck!!

So here's the thing.... I changed my OEM exhaust for a LeoVince a couple of years ago, When it was first fitted it popped and backfired a little bit on deceleration. Bike doc told me this was a common thing and nothing to worry about. But now it's a different story. I have a 64 mile commute to work ...

Re: Soft32/Dat101

First off, apologies for the very late update on this. My SMT finally gave up the ghost and refused to start after a night shift in London. Had to call the RAC out to get me going. He did all his clever testy things and it turns out the battery wasn't charging. He got the bike started and advised me...

Re: Chain Question

Looks normal to me. Remember, if you raise the back wheel off the ground the chain will slacken off a tad. Because your wheel is off the ground and the chain is slack it will jump somewhat when rotating. I suggest you place the SMT on it's sidestand and check chain tension as per the user manual. If...

Re: I love my SMT but.......

Oh joy of joys... On the way to work this evening my front wheel bearings decided to give up the ghost!! I had to call out the AA and get my bike recovered to my home. Buggered bike and loss of earnings.. Things go from bad to worse with this pile of crap KTM pass off as the Supermoto Travel...... I...

I love my SMT but.......

I love my SMT but I will never buy a KTM again... The build quality and the "customer support" is shite. I'm sure many of you have followed the problems I've had with my bike. Having read a fair few of the posts regarding issues with this bike (and the lack of support from KTM) I have decided to lis...

Re: Topcase causes the subframe to break..!!

I have spent the best part of this afternoon replacing my subframe. I can assure you it was snapped. It had snapped at the point where holes had been drilled and not on the welds as I had suspected. I have pictures and will try to post them. If I fail then I will be looking for help, again, like I d...

Re: Topcase causes the subframe to break..!!

It breaks! I've had a Givi topbox on my SMT for well over a year now. Last week (end of March) I noticed it was bouncing about a bit more than it should. I thought it was fixings come loose but no. It was a broken subframe. Both welds on the very back part of the frame (hard to describe) had broken....

Re: Soft32/Dat101

Glad I found this. I was just about to start a new topic about these codes. I've had these codes flashing up for the last month or so. Doesn't happen all the time though. What happens is I start the bike, let it warm up to 3 or 4 bars and then ride off. About 1 or 2 minutes after setting off my digi...

Re: Peeling film.

Maybe part of the delay was caused by me not going directly to KTM in the first place. :?: Perhaps it pissed them off a tad that, rather than go straight to KTM, I chose to use this forum first to see if my SMT was the only one with these issues. And, as you all know, I also used it to keep on moani...

Re: Peeling film.

Gentlemen, I have just listened to a voicemail message on my phone. Bernard from Laguna called to let me know KTM have AGREED the Goodwill Claim regarding my spring. Thank you KTM, I'm obviously happy with the decision and will be getting the spring changed as soon as Laguna have it delivered. I hav...

Re: Peeling film.

'Phoned Laguna today. KTM have still not got back to them.... Laguna have been very helpful and I have no gripe with them. (just want to make that clear). I asked if Laguna thought KTM were dragging their feet on this or if they thought KTM were not interested. They tell me KTM are very quick and ve...

[quote="dancerdave"are they really reading our posts? :o[/quote] Yes, dave, they are. Re: Peeling film.

It's all gone quiet... KTM have still not got back to Laguna with a decision. Laguna say they are chasing KTM for a response. My guess now is KTM are hoping I'll shut up and go away. Not a hope in Hell!!! I know you are monitoring my posts on this site, KTM. I have a bike, made by you, with multipul...

Re: SMT not so good for city commuting?

This has gone a bit off topic but I'd just like to say I took a pillion through heavy London traffic today and the SMT didn't miss a beat. I commute quite a lot on my own and the SMT is smooth, fast and nimble. (I have a G2 throttle tamer and a 16 tooth front sprocket). 1st time with a pillion in Lo...

Re: Opps - this could get expensive

Glad you came out of it ok Lost Soul. Hitting roundabouts hurts don't it.....! I hit one 3 or 4 years ago when I lost my V-Strom on some diesel. Sounds like you had some sensible box-dwellers at hand to help. I had one White Van Man. The rest of them just sat in their cans and watched the show. :x I...

Re: Start up noise

Is the sound kinda like an asthmatic wheeze (for want of a better description)?
If so, then mine does it all the time.
Not a thing I've ever worried about to be honest. Once Katie has cleared her throat she runs fine with no intermittent coughs, grunts or splutters. 8-)
