Only gone and bought another KTM innit
It's been a while. Eventually got round to selling my old SMT after it'd been gathering dust in the garage for ages, and the bloke who I sold it to has had it about a year and still hasn't worked out why it guzzles so much oil. Anyway, after owning a four-stroke that drinks oil, I figured if you can...

Yeah, I did another 70-odd yesterday. It's like whack-a-mole. Still, gives me something to do in lockdown.

It'll be less successful now I've deleted all the posts and banned the account.
I'm sure it won't be the last though.

I've deleted the ads - only 88, one by one - and banned the account, so hopefully he won't be back.

Re: Anybody Still Riding....
I had my first day out on two wheels in five months last weekend. Cobwebs well and truly blown away, and a proper ticking off from the wife after a few two-up ton-plus wheelies cos I forgot how fruity the XR is. Think that's the longest I've gone without even sitting on a bike in, christ, must be at...

Re: SMT to GS?
I would scare myself stupid on a bike with 160bhp and perfect throttle response I was the same when I first got my gixer thou. It's amazing what you can get used to - by the time I was done with it, it'd got a TRE, I'd lowered the gearing, added a quickshifter, and still wanted something faster. Th...

Re: Track Days on a SD-GT
30 front 28 rear is a good starting point for cold pressures if you're taking anything on track. Keep an eye on the tyres and watch for cold or hot tearing, that'll give you an indication of whether the pressure is too low or too high. If the tyres look good with no tearing then your pressures are f...

BMWs are sanitised, efficient and comfortable-KTMs are like the puppy that pees all over the carpet and then eats the cushions. The only BMW I've ever ridden is the S1000XR. It's definitely comfortable, and reasonably efficient, but I'm not sure I'd call it sanitised. It's going to get me in more t...

I'm not good enough to enter British Superbike Says who? You miss 100% of the shots you don't take... Says me, and says my results, because there's no arguing with a transponder. There are a lot of rungs on the road racing ladder. Novice, Clubman and National licence levels. And then the minimum ex...

Re: Going racing
It's been a while since I posted any self-aggrandising bollocks on this topic. Two seasons down, I've managed a pair of 7th place finishes in the pre-injection 700 championship, so this year I've gone for 7 as my number. Less an homage to Barry Sheene than an acknowledgement that 7th is clearly abou...

It's a good laugh, but appalling value considering how much time you actually get on the hill. I was borrowing two of a mate's bikes, as he had a double entry and could only ride one of them at a time.
He wasn't overly impressed when I beat him on his own bike.

If the weather is good I might go to the Hartland Quay hill climb on Sunday but it'll be on the 1290. If you do, come and say hello. I'll be running a YZ (#204) in the 250 class and a CRF (#567) in the 500 class. Or the numbers might be the other way round, I can't remember. Forecast looks pretty d...

Speedo and ABS dead
Got the SMT back today, after 7 months off the road - finally got round to getting the timing coil pickup replaced. So obviously now that's fixed it's got another problem. Speedo's stuck at zero, and the ABS light is stuck on. I'm guessing that means a problem with the front wheel speed sensor, so I...

Re: What did you do to your ktm today?
Nope, still smoking. Almost certainly worn rings, and if I sell it, it'll be cheap, with the smoke.
Ebay auction is written, but not listed, with a starting price of 2200. Haven't yet decided if/when to list it. Besides, I need to fix the speedo first.

Re: What did you do to your ktm today?
I'm in no rush to sell it ...and now I've got it back working, I'm not sure I can let it go. Fuck me, what a hoot. It weighs nothing, and I'd forgotten just how instance the throttle response is, and why I spend so little on front tyres. Speedo pickup seems to have died, so that needs replacing, as...

Dunno, I don't usually bother with one - I'm in no rush to sell it, don't need the money, would just like to reclaim the garage space.Gimlet wrote:What's the buy it now price then Ogden?

Re: What did you do to your ktm today?
Ha. Other than the problems with the motor, and a broken steering lock (thanks to a failed attempt to steal it) it's in pretty good condition, especially for one that's done about 40,000 miles through four winters. Certainly scrubs up well. Had new clocks last year, and chain & sprockets. Photos her...

Re: What did you do to your ktm today?
After seven months festering in the back of the garage, after breaking down on a commute home last year, I put a fresh battery on it and hit the button. It turns over but doesn't, fire, and the engine management light sits there happily flashing away. Bah. Anyway, van booked for tomorrow morning, an...
